Hello Golden Fetus Records readers,
JooWan Kim, leader of Ensemble Mik Nawooj & music director of Great Integration: A Chamber Hip-Hop Opera, has completed a manual which is a theoretical and practical manifesto of Golden Fetus Records.
It is entitled "Book of Epiphanies"
Feel free to read it online beginning with the First Opening, and concluding with the Eighth Opening.
** Please note: You must scroll all the way down and press "Newer Post" to consecutively read each new "opening." If you want to read something prior, press"Older Post".
Enjoy this brief excerpt below:
"Everything began in the fall of 2002. I was a fourth year undergraduate at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My roommate was out of our room, but had left his jazz harmony textbook lying open on his desk. I noticed that it was open to a chapter dealing with the four possible qualities of triads and their intervallic compositions. As I was trying to figure out why he was reading about something so basic (after all, we were all familiar with the four possible triads by the end of first semester harmony), something came to me. I noticed that the shape of the triads and the composition of their intervals were oddly similar to those of the digrams of the I Ching. As I looked more closely, I realized that they weren’t just similar, but that they were exactly the same. They had been built with the same rationale.
The following are the details of my discovery:
In the symbology of the I Ching, the beginning of everything is represented by nothingness, a nothingness that is unbounded and has no shape, color, or sound. This is called Wu-Chi.
From this nothingness, or Wu-Chi, emerges the ultimate creative energy or Tai-Chi. Or, more specifically, Tai-Chi forms within the Wu-Chi."
Take care,
Christopher Nicholas
